Dalia Othman is the Gender and Tech project coordinator at Tactical Tech Collective and a Research Affiliate at Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet and Society. For the past few years, Othman has been researching online civic engagement in the Arab World, focusing on analyzing the Arab Blogosphere and Twitter networks of various countries within the region. She dedicates the rest of her time working on issues around civic tech, particularly around themes of digital storytelling, literacy and advocacy. She is co-founder of the data storytelling resource site Netstories.org, VecBox a hackerspace in Palestine and frequently contributes to the Human Rights and Technology newsletter Digital Citizen.
Previously, Dalia was a visiting Scholar at MIT's Center for Civic Media and an Associate Professor teaching New Media at both Bard College- Abu Dis and Birzeit University. She was also the Senior Manager of Community Projects at Souktel Inc. - a mobile services company that designs SMS platforms for the aid of local communities across the globe.
